Middlesbrough manager, Michael Carrick, has praised the arrival of Nigerian winger Kelechi Iheanacho, expressing confidence in his potential for success at the club.
Iheanacho joined Boro on a six-month loan deal from La Liga side Sevilla on Monday night. This move marks Iheanacho’s third stint in English football, having previously played for Manchester City and Leicester City.
Carrick, who is excited about the winger’s addition, believes Iheanacho will play a key role for the team.
He also expressed his satisfaction with the club’s activity in the January transfer window.
“Obviously, I’m delighted that Kelechi is joining us. Unfortunately, he wasn’t able to join in time for tonight’s match, but I’m confident he’ll be an important player for us and have a big impact,” Carrick said on to Sky Sports.
“We have some good attacking players, and we’ll have a solid week of training to get everyone settled and ready for the next challenge,” he added.
Iheanacho is expected to make his debut for Middlesbrough when they face Sheffield United at Bramall Lane on Wednesday, February 12.
