Daniel Ogunmodede: ‘Remo Stars ready to handle pressure in CAF Champions League clash’

By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

Remo Stars head coach, Daniel Ogunmodede, says his side is fully prepared to battle hard in their CAF Champions League preliminary round fixture against Comoros giants US Zilimadjou.

On Sunday, the reigning Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) champions will host the first leg at the MKO Abiola Sports Arena, Kuto, Abeokuta, as they begin their quest for continental glory.

US Zilimadjou, founded in 1983, are one of the most successful clubs in Comoros football history, boasting six league titles — second only to Coin Nord.

Speaking on the challenge ahead, Ogunmodede acknowledged the weight of expectation on his team but insisted they are ready to rise to the occasion.

“I used to tell people that my name is Pressure — Daniel Ogunmodede Pressure,” the coach said.

“I know there is pressure to progress, but we will fight hard.

“Even if I have set of players that Barcelona and Real Madrid have, there will always be pressure. Losing some calibre of players meant we are playing at underogs. We are going to face the pressure and see how it goes.”

Remo Stars have intensified preparations throughout the week, sharpening their tactics and conditioning ahead of the crucial encounter.

With home advantage and the favorites’ tag, the Sky Blue Stars will be eager to secure a strong result before the return leg.
