Delta Queens appoint Samson Keshi as Head Coach in major technical overhaul

By Dayo Awoniyi

Delta Queens FC have announced the appointment of UEFA-certified coach Samson Keshi as the club’s new Head Coach, following a major restructuring initiated by the Delta State Sports Commission ahead of the 2025/26 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) season.

The shake-up is aimed at introducing greater professionalism and stability to the club’s technical and administrative structure.

Keshi, who previously managed Naija Ratels FC, is expected to bring a wealth of tactical knowledge and European coaching experience to the role.

Supporting Keshi in the dugout will be Maureen Eke, a gold medal-winning coach from the most recent National Sports Festival, and Susan Joy Aliya, both of whom have been named as assistant coaches.

Awhana Mercy has also returned as General Manager, bringing her seasoned leadership and administrative expertise back to the team.

The club’s restructured support staff includes Usiada Ese as Welfare Officer, Akanigha Austin as Media Officer, and Jennifer Adjuyah as Kit Manager, among others.

These appointments are part of a broader effort by the Delta State Sports Commission to revitalize the club and strengthen its operational efficiency.

In a statement, the commission emphasized that the changes were made to inject fresh energy and renewed focus into the club’s preparations for a competitive NWFL campaign.

The newly reconstituted team is expected to be formally inaugurated in the coming days as Delta Queens begin their journey toward reclaiming dominance in Nigerian women’s football.
