Djurgården IF Sign Nigerian Teenage Striker Goodness Osigwe

Swedish side Djurgården IF have announced the signing of 18-year-old Nigerian striker Goodness Osigwe.

Djurgården sporting director Jean Balawo revealed how the move was inspired by Osigwe’s performance at the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup in Colombia, where she caught his eye.

“I first caught sight of Goodness during the U20 World Cup in Colombia, where she provided a crucial assist in the match against Japan – a match that ended 2-1,” Balawo said.

Osigwe, who has already represented Nigeria at youth international level, described herself as a forward who thrives on pace and flair.

“I’m fast and technical and like to challenge with my dribbling. Then there have been a few goals too and I have good self-confidence which helps me out on the pitch,” she explained.

Although unfamiliar with Stockholm before her move, the teenage striker expressed her excitement at joining Djurgården.

“It’s a privilege to be in the capital’s club,” Osigwe added.

With her arrival, Djurgården have secured one of Nigeria’s brightest young prospects, hoping her international experience will strengthen the team’s attacking options in the Swedish league.

After making the Matchday squad for Djurgården’s 2-1 win over Hammarby on Monday, Goodness is expected to make her debut appearance against Linkoping on September 28, 2025.
