ETWGB/LSFA Cup: Lagos FA gives reasons for postponement of tournament

The Lagos State Football Association (LSFA) have given reasons for the postponement of the BETWGB/LSFA Cup.
The LSFA through its secretary, Akeem Rabiu-Okikioposu confirmed the development following appeals from major stakeholders in the interest of safeguarding the lives of players, match officials and fans in the state.
In a statement, the LSFA blamed insecurity and the limited money in circulation as the reasons for the postponement of the tournament that was supposed to kick off on Saturday 18th of February 2023 with the rookies.
Akeem, however promised that further informations will be communicated to the clubs as he urges them to remain calm and law abiding.
“Dear Affiliates, on behalf of the chairman, board and staff of Lagos State Football Association, I write to express our warm regards to you all,” Akeem said.
“In view of the uncertainties going on across the states, appeals from football stakeholders to defer the kick off of the LSFA/BETWGB Lagos FA Cup and as a responsible Football Association, we hereby inform you all that BETWGB/LSFA FA CUP Rooky Matches scheduled to hold on Saturday and Sunday, February 18/19, 2023 is suspended.
“This is necessary in order to have seamless kick off of matches and to ensure the safety of players, match officials and fans.
“Please, note that further informations would be communicated to you all on the new kick off date.
“Thanks for your understanding and kindly accept the assurances of our Chairman’s warmest regards.”
Dannaz FC emerged champions of the 2022 Lagos FA Cup defeating Ottasolo FC 3-1 at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, Lagos, while Robo Queens crushed Dannaz Ladies 4-0 to win the tournament for the 12th time.
