Ex-Serie A star Accardi tips Osimhen to regain form if he stays in Napoli

Former Palermo player Giuseppe Accardi believes that Victor Osimhen could regain his spark under Antonio Conte if he stays at Napoli next season.

The Nigerian international has become one of the most sought-after strikers in the world after helping Napoli win their first Scudetto title in 33 years, finishing as Serie A top scorer with 26 goals.

However, the following season was tumultuous for the reigning African Player of the Year.

Osimhen managed to score 15 goals and record 3 assists in 25 league games, but Napoli failed to defend their league title, finishing in a disappointing ninth position.

Ex-Chelsea manager Antonio Conte is set to take over as Napoli’s coach ahead of next season, but there are doubts whether he will get to work with Osimhen, as the Nigerian has been linked with a move away from Naples.

Although Osimhen still has a year left on his contract, he is likely to leave the club this summer, with Chelsea reportedly leading the chase for his signature.

Despite the transfer speculations, Accardi is confident that Conte could help Osimhen rediscover his form from the previous season if he remains at Napoli.

“I would keep Osimhen and Kvara because finding strong attackers is not easy, and with a new coach like Conte, they could go back to being two players of a stratospheric level,” Accardi told Calciomania broadcast, as per Tutto Napoli.
