Fabio Capello criticizes Osimhen’s performance in Napoli’s Champions League exit

Former Italy head coach, Fabio Capello, has strongly criticized Victor Osimhen for his lackluster performance in Napoli’s Champions League exit at the hands of Barcelona.

Barcelona secured a 3-1 victory over Napoli in Spain, advancing to the quarterfinals of the prestigious tournament at Napoli’s expense.

Capello expressed his disappointment with Osimhen’s performance, stating that the Nigerian striker failed to make a significant impact and appeared subdued throughout the match.

According to Capello, Osimhen struggled against Barcelona’s defenders, failing to capitalize on their weaknesses, particularly in defense.

“He was flagged offside six times in the first half and went unnoticed in the second half,” Capello remarked in an interview with Sky Sport Italia.

“It was not the same Osimhen we usually see. He struggled against Barcelona defenders and only won one aerial duel. Barcelona’s weak point was the defense, and he could not emerge.”

Napoli’s defeat sees them exit the Champions League, adding to the disappointment of their season. With 44 points from 28 matches, Napoli currently sit seventh in the Serie A standings and are set to face Inter Milan in their next fixture on Sunday, March 17th.
