By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

The head coach of Nigeria’s U-20 national team, Aliyu Zubair, has started his coaching attachment in Europe.

The 2-week training attachment at FC Montana in Bulgaria is aimed at helping the manager gain more experience ahead of the next U-20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in South Africa.

Aliyu, who is also the Technical Adviser of El-Kanemi Warriors of Maiduguri, is known for his passion for excellence, and the move to undergo the training is driven by his zeal to keep up with the modern trend of football.

His decision has been widely commended by Nigerians and football stakeholders who believe the gaffer is one of the biggest revelations in the Nigerian football space in 2024.

His zeal and passion for his role are yielding fruits, starting with helping El Kanemi Warriors gain promotion to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) from the second tier this year.

He also guided the team to winning the 2024 President Federation Cup (FA Cup) in Lagos against Abia Warriors qualifying for the CAF Confederation Cup.

His outstanding performances earned him an appointment as Flying Eagles coach by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).

He has led the Flying Eagles to West Africa Zone B (WAFU-B) title this year and qualification for the next U-20 AFCON.
