Super Falcons debut thrill Blessing Nkor

By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

Egypt-based forward Blessing Nkor is in could nine after making her first-ever appearance for Nigeria’s senior women’s national team.

The former Ibom Angels player featured in the Super Falcons’ 2-1 loss to France in Nantes on Saturday.

She started the game and was replaced by Nasarawa Amazons player, Isah Sikiratu in the 46th minute.

She took to her social media page to express appreciation for the opportunity to put on the green and white jersey.

“Appreciation Post!
It’s a dream come true for me to play for my country in this capacity. Special thanks to God Almighty, @nigeriasuperfalcons, the coaching crew, and the entire system for the honor and privilege. To everyone who supports me, I love from my heart. 💞♥️ #soarsuperfalcons,” She posted.

Goals from Eugenie Le Sommer and Amel Majri lifted Le Bleues to a 2-1 despite conceding for the first time against the nine-time African champions thanks to French-based Ifeoma Onumonu.

Nkor previously played for Sunshine Queens, Yanga Princess (Tanzania), and Asya (Turkey) before completing her switch to the Egyptian side.

Despite Saturday’s clash being Nkor’s debut at the senior level, she has previously represented Nigeria at the U-20 level.
