Former Ghana international Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu has expressed his support for Nigeria’s Ademola Lookman to win the 2024 CAF Africa Player of the Year (APOTY) award.
Lookman was the highest-ranked African at the recent Ballon d’Or ceremony, finishing 14th after a stellar season for both club and country.
Agyemang-Badu praised Lookman’s performances, stating, “Without a doubt, one of my favorite players, Lookman, has been outstanding for both his club and country. I fully support him to win the award,” he told Flashscore.
The ex-Udinese midfielder also shared his disappointment that his compatriot Mohammed Kudus did not make the 10-man shortlist, despite his impressive contributions to West Ham, including helping the team reach the last eight of the Europa League.
Agyemang-Badu encouraged Kudus to stay focused and maintain consistent performances to enhance his chances for future awards.
“He’s still young and has plenty of opportunities to be crowned Africa’s best. He just needs to stay focused, keep learning, and continue growing. His time will come—it’s a marathon, not a sprint,” he added.
