Galatasaray President Dursun Özbek: Victor Osimhen is Turkish’s Most Valuable Player

By Oluwadamilola Olaleye

Galatasaray president Dursun Özbek has hailed Victor Osimhen as the most valuable player in Turkey’s Süper Lig, amid increasing speculation linking the Nigerian striker to top European clubs.

Addressing the media at an awards ceremony, Özbek responded to the ongoing transfer rumors surrounding Osimhen, acknowledging the growing interest from elite clubs across Europe, including Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain (PSG).

In a bold statement, the Galatasaray president confirmed that the club had set a €150 million price tag on the forward, making it clear that no offers below that amount would be entertained.

“There are transfer rumors surrounding Osimhen, with reports suggesting €150 million has been sacrificed. What is your valuation of Osimhen?” Özbek was asked.

“Osimhen is one of the most valuable footballers in Türkiye. I don’t want to comment on his numbers,” Özbek replied, adding, “But there is one thing all Turkish football fans agree on: Osimhen is the league’s most valuable player.”

Reports from Turkish football outlets have emphasized that Galatasaray is resolute in its stance, stating that no offers below their set valuation will be considered.

This declaration underscores the club’s determination to retain their star forward, whose stunning performances have not gone unnoticed by some of Europe’s biggest clubs.

Osimhen’s prolific form has made him one of the most sought-after strikers in European football, and as transfer windows approach, top clubs are expected to make moves to test Galatasaray’s resolve.

However, with the €150 million price tag firmly in place, it remains to be seen whether any team will be willing to meet the asking price for the Nigerian international.
