Son of the only African Player to win Ballon d’Or, Timothy Weah has picked his Juventus teammate Dusan Vlahovic over Serie A Golden Boot holder Victor Osimhen.
In the 2020/21 season, Vlahovic broke into the Fiorentina first team and scored his first goal for the club in September 2020. He went on to score 20 goals in the league, making him the top scorer for Fiorentina and the second-highest scorer among all Serie A players under the age of 21.
This impressive feat earned him the recognition of Serie A’s Best Young Player award for the 2020/2021 season.
That earned him a mega bucks move to Juventus for around £66 million. However, he has not been to replicate the fear due to injury issues.
Victor Osimhen on the hand helped Napoli to their first Scudetto in 33 years scoring 26 goals and scoooing Serie A Golden Boot and Best Striker awards.
He also smashed George Weah’s long-standing goal record as the African player with the most Seria A goals.
Weah, who arrived at Juventus this summer, has declared himself a huge fan of Vlahovic.
“Vlahovic is among the best in the world. I see him and Chiesa extremely determined to drag us to victory. He is a huge striker, because he scores a lot and knows how to do everything else well,” he told New Balance.
“I really enjoy interacting with him on the pitch and I would never trade him for Victor Osimhen: they are two extraordinary players, but Dusan is perfect for this team.”
