GTI promises spectacular President Federation Cup final as Kwara, Abakaliki FC tango

Strategic partners to the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), GTI Asset Management and Trust Limited, have assured football fans nationwide of an unforgettable finale to the 77th edition of Nigeria’s oldest domestic football competition.

In a statement issued Wednesday, GTI’s Head of Media and Publicity, Andrew Ekejiuba, confirmed that preparations for the President Federation Cup final are well underway.

The event will take place at Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, Lagos, on Saturday, June 28, 2025, promising a thrilling mix of top-tier football and entertainment.

“Mobolaji Johnson Arena will come alive with soccer fireworks and thrilling entertainment,” Ekejiuba said.

“Finalists in both the women’s and men’s categories will showcase talent, grit, and passion that define the spirit of the President Federation Cup.”

In the men’s final, Kwara United will face the surprise package Abakaliki FC, who have defied expectations with a remarkable run to the final.

Kwara United booked their place with a narrow 1-0 semi-final win over reigning NPFL champions, Enugu Rangers.

Abakaliki FC, also known as the De Rice Boys, have stunned football fans by eliminating four NPFL sides: Yobe Desert Stars, Katsina United, Enyimba FC, and Nasarawa United.

Their semi-final victory over Ikorodu City confirmed their spot in the final, which kicks off at 4:00 p.m.

On the women’s side, Rivers Angels of Port Harcourt will clash with Nasarawa Amazons in a much-anticipated showdown at 1:00 p.m.

Rivers Angels, nine-time winners, are chasing a historic 10th title, while Nasarawa Amazons seek to reclaim the crown they last won in 2019 — a victory achieved by defeating Rivers Angels.

A compelling subplot to the women’s final involves Nasarawa Amazons captain Josephine Mathias, who was part of the Rivers Angels squad that fell short in the 2019 final, adding an extra layer of intrigue to the encounter.

Both matches will be broadcast live on SuperSport and Propel Sports Africa, bringing the drama to fans across Nigeria and beyond.

GTI’s partnership with the NFF underscores its commitment to advancing Nigerian football, with the 2025 President Federation Cup final marking a major milestone in that journey.
