Henry Onyekuru Aims for January Return to Everton

Nigerian forward Henry Onyekuru, who is currently on loan at Anderlecht, is hopeful of an early return to his parent club, Everton, as he continues to impress with his performances in Belgium.
The 20-year-old has been on loan at Anderlecht, where he has scored seven goals in 13 matches. Onyekuru originally signed with Everton from Belgian side Eupen last summer and agreed to a one-year loan deal with Anderlecht. Now, it seems the young Super Eagles forward is eager to expedite his return to Everton.
Onyekuru expressed his optimism about the potential early move, saying, “Everton is happy about my development. I’m expecting something. I’m hoping to go to Everton in January.”
However, there could be a stumbling block on the path to an early Everton move, as Onyekuru is yet to make his competitive debut for the Nigerian national team. In order to qualify for a British work permit, he needs to participate in a certain percentage of international games. While he featured in a friendly against Togo in Corsica in July, he wasn’t involved in the qualifiers for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
As Onyekuru’s performances continue to turn heads in Belgium, his desire to don Everton’s blue jersey appears strong. The young striker aims to build on his progress and compete in the English Premier League. His journey from the Belgian top division to the English top flight would be one to watch for football fans eager to witness the rise of promising talent on the international stage.
