“I should be getting more goals” — Alex Iwobi reveals after brace against Brighton

By Monsurah Olatunji

Nigeria striker Alex Iwobi has expressed his desire to score more regularly for Fulham, despite his impressive brace in Thursday’s 2-1 victory over Brighton.

The Nigerian international played a crucial role in securing all three points for his team, moving them up to sixth in the Premier League standings.

Iwobi opened the scoring in the fourth minute before sealing his brace with a powerful strike in the 87th minute, capping off a man-of-the-match performance.

However, reflecting on his performance, the 28-year-old Super Eagles star admitted that he believes he should be finding the back of the net more often.

“We wanted to get a win after our last game against Spurs, and there’s no better place to do it than at home,” Iwobi told Amazon Prime post-match.

“I should be getting more goals, but it was good to get them for the team. Brighton likes to play, and so do we. I was able to capitalize on the high press.”

Iwobi also discussed the tactical approach Fulham employed against Brighton, knowing their opponents prefer to play out from the back.

“We came up with a structure that worked for the first goal. We take it, however it goes in, a goal is a goal,” he said.

“We also wanted a goal from a set piece because we were a real threat last season.”

With his growing influence at Fulham, Iwobi is looking to continue contributing to the team’s success, aiming to add even more goals to his tally as the season progresses.
