Nigeria forward Joy Omewa was on target as Fortuna Hjørring came from behind to claim a 2–1 victory over Hibernian in the UEFA Women’s Champions League second qualifying round on Wednesday.
Omewa had the chance to open the scoring early when Fortuna were awarded a penalty in the seventh minute, but she was denied from the spot.
The miss proved costly as Rachael Boyle put the Scottish side ahead two minutes into the second half.
The former Confluence Queens striker made amends in the 70th minute, firing home the equaliser to restore parity for the Danish champions.
With the game heading for extra time, Nikoline Nielsen struck deep into stoppage time to seal the win and secure Fortuna’s progression to the next round.
Omewa, who played the full duration, also picked up a yellow card in the 66th minute.
The victory keeps Fortuna Hjørring’s hopes alive of reaching the 2025/26 UEFA Women’s Champions League group stage.
