Kwara United sack coach Tunde Sanni after home defeat to Abia Warriors

By Dayo Awoniyi

Kwara United have parted ways with Technical Adviser Tunde Sanni following the team’s 1–0 home defeat to Abia Warriors in their Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Week 3 fixture on Sunday in Ilorin.

The club confirmed Sanni’s dismissal less than 24 hours after the disappointing result at the Kwara State Stadium, citing the need to “reposition the team for better performance” amid growing concerns over form and results.

Sanni’s exit follows a string of underwhelming performances, including Kwara United’s early elimination from the CAF Confederation Cup and a slow start to the NPFL season, which has seen the team collect just one point from their first three matches.

His dismissal also comes shortly after he dismissed reports of having been issued a three-match ultimatum, insisting at the time that his position was not under threat.

In the interim, Chief Coach Ashifat Sulyman has been placed in charge of the squad while the club begins the search for a new substantive Technical Adviser.

Kwara United will look to arrest their poor form when they travel for their next league outing, as pressure mounts to revive a faltering campaign.
