Super Eagles midfielder Mikel Agu is on the road to recovery after a successful arthroscopic menisectomy surgery on his right knee, following an injury sustained while representing Turkish Super Lig side Bursaspor. The midfielder exacerbated the issue during training with the national team ahead of their matches against Algeria in a World Cup qualifier and the subsequent friendly against Argentina, a game from which he withdrew.

Agu, currently on loan from Porto to Bursaspor, confirmed the positive outcome of the surgery and expressed his intentions to commence rehabilitation later this week. Speaking to Completesportsnigeria.com, Agu stated, “Yes, I have gone for the surgery, and I hope to start my rehabilitation this week.”
