Moses Simon Shines as Gent Secures Hard-Fought Victory; Esiti Sees Red

Super Eagles forward Moses Simon emerged as the hero for 10-man Gent, securing a 1-0 away win against Zulte-Waregem in a challenging Belgian top-flight encounter on Sunday. Simon’s goal in the 29th minute proved decisive, showcasing his goal-scoring prowess and contributing to Gent’s hard-fought victory.

Despite the triumph, the match saw a setback for Gent as Nigerian teammate Anderson Esiti received his second yellow card, resulting in a sending off. This marked Esiti’s second red card since joining Gent last season. Samuel Kalu, also in action for Gent, was substituted in the 66th minute.

In another Belgian top-flight clash, Super Eagles defender Uche Agbo played the full 90 minutes for Standard Liege but could only help secure a 1-1 draw against visiting Royal Antwerp.

Moving to the Portuguese Primera Liga, Super Eagles midfielder Oghenekaro Etebo put in a full 90-minute appearance for 10-man Feirense, who faced a 1-0 defeat at the hands of visiting Aves. Feirense’s Machado received a straight red card in the encounter.

Nigerian duo Kenneth Omeruo and Emem Eduok featured for Kasimpasa in the Turkish first division but faced a 4-2 loss away to Fenerbahce. Omeruo played the full 90 minutes, while Eduok made way in the 66th minute.

In Cyprus, Super Eagles defender Shehu Abdullahi played the entire 90 minutes for Anorthosis, contributing to their 1-0 victory over Nea Salamis. With this win, Anorthosis remains unbeaten after 14 league games and currently holds the top position with 30 points in the 14-team league table.
