Nigeria unveil 26-player final squad for U17 Africa Cup of Nations

By Monsurah Olatunji
After a series of MRI tests, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) on Sunday unveiled the 26-man squad of players to represent the country at the 2023 CAF U17 African Nations Cup in Algeria.
The Nigeria U17 men’s national team are scheduled to arrive at the Algerian city of Constantine on Sunday night for their final preparations for this year’s Africa U17 Cup of Nations.
The Golden Eaglets will kick start the campaign for continental glory against Zambia on Sunday 30th of April at the 22,000-capacity Stade Mohamed Hamlaoui.
The five-time World Cup champions will battle Morocco and South Africa in other Group B games.
However, head coach Nduka Ugbade believes the WAFU B champions have the set of players to conquer the continent and go on to rule the world.
“We are going to Algeria with confidence but with level heads,” Ugbade told media.
“We’re the champions of WAFU B, but in essence, nothing has been won. What matters now is winning a ticket to the FIFA World Cup and winning the Africa Cup. I believe we have the boys to do the job.”
The 12-team championship will serve as the qualifiers for the FIFA U17 World Cup as the semifinalists will pick automatic slots to hoist Africa’s flags at the global showpiece.
