Wikki Tourists head coach, Abdu Maikaba, has cited player fatigue as the key factor behind his team’s 3-1 defeat to Jigawa Golden Stars in a Nigeria National League (NNL) Matchday 10 clash on Saturday.
The loss, which ended the Bauchi Elephants’ three-match unbeaten run, was a setback for the Conference C leaders, who had hoped to maintain their momentum in Kazaure.
Speaking after the game, Maikaba admitted his side looked off the pace, particularly in the first half.
“We’ve been travelling a lot lately and the boys were a bit tired,” Maikaba said.
“We didn’t start well, but you noticed we tried to change things in the second half, which improved our play. Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough.”
Despite the defeat, Wikki Tourists remain top of the Conference C table with 17 points.
