Nosa Igiebor Sets Sights on European Redemption following Rizespor Departure

In a determined bid to reignite his career in top-flight European football, Nigerian midfielder Nosa Igiebor has parted ways with relegated Caykur Rizespor, setting his sights on a fresh start. Caykur Rizespor officially terminated Igiebor’s contract on mutual consent back in July after their heartbreaking relegation to the second tier of Turkish football. However, the former Real Betis star is leaving no stone unturned in his quest for a new opportunity.

Sources close to the player have informed us that Igiebor is actively seeking a return to the footballing elite and is potentially considering a move to Scandinavia, following the breakdown of negotiations with Antalyaspor earlier this year.

“Nosa has been on the hunt for another club since his departure from Rizespor. While he may consider another Turkish club, his most likely destination is Scandinavia. Time is, however, running out, and a decision must be made soon,” the source told Completesportsnigeria.com.

Igiebor, a vital part of the Super Eagles squad that claimed the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations title in South Africa, initially joined Rizespor during the January transfer window on a three-and-a-half-year deal. His move was facilitated by Rizespor meeting the release clause in his contract at Netanya.

Opting to part ways with the club following their inability to maintain their Super Lig status, Igiebor faced challenges securing a regular place in Hikmet Karaman’s squad. During the last season, the former Super Eagles midfielder featured in 13 games and netted one goal in the Sports Toto Super Lig.

With his eyes set on a fresh chapter in his career, Nosa Igiebor continues his quest to secure a new European footballing home, determined to prove himself once again at the highest level of the beautiful game.
