Katsina United’s Technical Adviser, Azeez Audu, has stressed the importance of improving his team’s ability to convert scoring chances as they aim for better results in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).
Under Audu’s guidance, the Chanji Boys have shown improvement, securing five wins, one draw, and three losses in their last nine matches.
However, the team still struggles with finishing, as evidenced by their narrow 1-0 victory over Shooting Stars in Matchday 29, which came only in the dying moments of the game.
Audu acknowledged the challenge, revealing that the issue is more psychological than technical.
“We are just going to work on the players psychologically because it’s a mental anxiety, not that the players don’t know how to play,” Audu said.
He further emphasized that players must focus on their positioning and decision-making when chances arise.
“Anybody who can get a chance in a game should know that he has made the right runs and the right positioning. You know they can play, the only thing is that they are always anxious to convert the chances.”
Currently sitting in 13th place with 34 points from 29 games, Katsina United will need to improve their finishing if they hope to secure a stronger position in the league standings.
