NPFL: Kano Pillars bring in six new players, lay off four

By Wale Mustapha

Kano Pillars have strengthened their squad with six new signings ahead of the 2024/2025 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season. The additions are aimed at boosting their chances for a strong finish.

Among the new recruits are three strikers: Hadi Mohammed Olarewanju from Bayelsa United, Eshimitu Gomino Eya from FRSC FC, and Jerry Alex, who returns to the club after a stint in the Maltese league with Mosta FC and Senglea FC.

The new arrivals also include defenders Dawud Ibrahim, a left-back from Kebbi United, and Uzogara Kennedy, a central defender from Rivers United. Midfielder Ezeh Charles joined the four-time NPFL champions on a free transfer.

However, there have also been departures from the club during the midseason transfer window. Usman Aminu Maidubji and Yusuf Abdullahi were both sent on loan to Barau FC and Plateau United, respectively, until the end of the season.

Additionally, the club mutually terminated the contract of Ghanaian midfielder Emmanuel Anaful, while striker Abdulmajeed Aminu is set to complete a move to South African side Moneni Pirates.

Kano Pillars currently sit in 12th place on the NPFL standings with 29 points from 21 games.

They will face league leaders Remo Stars in their Matchday 23 fixture on Sunday in Ikenne.
