NPFL: Katsina United coach Azeez Audu reflects on season’s highs and lows

By Wale Mustapha

Katsina United Technical Adviser Azeez Audu has described the 2024/25 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season as unforgettable, reflecting on the challenges and triumphs since taking over the club midway through the campaign.

Audu assumed leadership of the Chanji Boys while they were battling relegation and successfully steered the team to safety, retaining their top-flight status in dramatic fashion.

Speaking to Nigerian Players Gallery, the former Kwara United coach identified the 6-0 defeat to Ikorodu City as the most difficult moment of the season.

“The most difficult match in the just concluded season for me as a coach is our match against Ikorodu City,” Audu said. “I think it’s unforgettable.”

Conversely, he singled out Katsina United’s emphatic 5-1 victory over Abia Warriors on Matchday 34 at the Mohammed Dikko Stadium as the team’s standout performance.

“Seriously, no match is easy because we fight to get the three points, but I will say against Abia Warriors because we scored the highest number of goals this season against them.”

Audu’s successful mid-season turnaround has earned praise from fans and stakeholders, with expectations now rising ahead of the 2025/26 NPFL campaign.
