Shooting Stars Head Coach, Nurudeen Aweroro, has declared his team’s determination to secure maximum points when they face Ikorodu City in Sunday’s highly anticipated South-West derby.

Speaking at the pre-match press conference on Saturday, Aweroro — who previously managed Ikorodu City — acknowledged the personal significance of the encounter but insisted his focus is firmly on guiding the Oluyole Warriors to victory in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) encounter.

“This is a very important match for me. They know my style of play, but it is all about winning the match. Our mentality is to win, and we need the three points,” Aweroro stated.

Reflecting on his time with Sunday’s opponents, he added: “As their former coach, this game is important to me. With God, I did well while with them, and I’m happy we are meeting at this early stage of the league.”

On the team’s readiness, the coach explained that the technical crew has fine-tuned all aspects of play to ensure a strong performance.

“Every area is very important for the team to do well. We have worked on the areas that needed improvement. It is not about focusing on one part but on the entire team effort.”

Aweroro also downplayed talk of derby pressure, stressing that every league match carries equal weight.

“Derby or not, every match matters to us. We plan to manage the game well by winning convincingly and making things easier to avoid unnecessary pressure from our fans.”

Providing a fitness update, the coach confirmed that 3SC will go into the derby at full strength.

“As of today’s final training session, there is no injury. We have enough players to prosecute the match.”

The Oluyole Warriors, cheered on by their home supporters, will be aiming for their first win of the campaign in what promises to be a pulsating derby showdown at the Lekan Salami Stadium.
