NPFL Slams Wikki Tourists with ₦7.5m Fine, Orders Venue Relocation Over Crowd Violence

Wikki Tourists have been sanctioned for breaching the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Framework and Rules following incidents that occurred during their Matchday 25 fixture against Katsina United on Sunday, February 8, 2026.

The league found the Bauchi-based club guilty of failing to provide adequate and effective security, which led to unauthorised persons gaining access to restricted areas of the stadium.

During the match, Wikki supporters engaged in unsporting behaviour capable of bringing the game into disrepute. Supporters were also reported to have thrown dangerous objects, including stones, onto the pitch at away team players and match officials.

The club further failed to ensure proper conduct of its supporters, resulting in the harassment of match officials, loss of personal items, and injuries sustained by match officials and an official of Katsina United.

The NPFL imposed the following penalties:

₦2 million fine for failure to provide adequate and effective security.

₦1.5 million covering compensatory and medical costs, including:

₦250,000 for the referee’s lost whistle.
₦250,000 for the referee’s medical expenses.

₦500,000 each for medical treatment of an injured medical personnel and a Katsina United official.
₦1 million fine for unsporting behaviour capable of bringing the game into disrepute.

₦1 million fine for throwing dangerous objects onto the pitch.
₦2 million fine for holding match officials and the away team hostage for several hours after the match and causing an 18-minute delay before play resumed.

In addition to the financial sanctions, Wikki Tourists have been ordered to play their home matches at the Jos Stadium indefinitely.

The club has 48 hours from the date of notification to appeal the sanctions.
