Sunshine Stars’ head coach, Bobola Akinfolarin, has praised his players for their determined performance in securing a 1-1 draw against Nasarawa United on Sunday.
The Owena Whales earned a hard-fought point in their Matchday 29 encounter of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) at the Lafia Township Stadium.
Akinfolarin, who filled in for the club’s technical adviser, Abubakar Bala, during the post-match briefing, emphasized that the result is crucial for the team’s survival hopes this season.
“It’s a point, but it’s indeed an important one for us in what we are planning to achieve,” Akinfolarin said in a statement to the club’s media.
“We will continue to approach every game as they come; it was a great game we had against Nasarawa United.”
Despite the draw, Sunshine Stars remain in the relegation zone with 32 points.
Next, Bala Abubakar’s side will face Plateau United at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne on Saturday.
