NWFL Premiership: Jacob Vandhi picks positives from Adamawa Queens loss in Aba

By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

Despite his team’s last-gasp loss to Abia Angels on Wednesday, head coach of Adamawa Queens, Jacob Vandhi has picked positives from the disappointing second defeat of the season in Aba.

Nkechi Agams’ 86th-minute goal helped Abia Angels condemned Adamawa Queens to a 1-0 defeat in the 2022/2023 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership at the Enyimba International Stadium.

The defeat was the visitors’ second of the campaign and a consecutive one after winning its opening two games against Ibom Angels and Confluence Queens before a 4-0 loss to Edo Queens.

“Tactically, my girls played to instructions. We know that we are coming for an away match and executed our game plan very well but the way the Nigeria league is,” Vandhi told Nigeriafootball.ng.

“Thank God that both teams played very good football tactically. If both teams continue like this, the future of football in our country will be bright. The only problem is officiating.

“The officiating was very good in the first half but towards the end of the match, I don’t know what happened. As a coach, one has to see the efficiency of one’s team at the end of every game so that one will go and work on it.

“That’s how the game is. There must be a mistake before a goal can be scored. We made a mistake and they scored us.”

Adamawa Queens will hope to return to winning ways next week when it faces wounded Nasarawa Amazons after the latter’s first defeat of the season to Confluence Queens at home.
