By Saheed Afolabi
Head coach of Confluence Queens, Whyte Ogbonda says he was not surprised by his side’s shock win at Nasarawa Amazons in Markudi on Wednesday, citing his belief in his players’ strength.
Confluence Queens finally heaved a sigh of relief as they got their first win of the NWFL Premiership 2022/2023 season after defeating Nasarawa Amazons 2-3 at the Aper Aku Stadium.
After going three games without a win, including a home draw with Abia Angels, the former Rivers Angels gaffer hailed their opponents Nasarawa Amazons for giving them a good fight.
”A lot of people were shocked about the final score but I’m not shocked because I believe in the player’s abilities,” Ogbonda told media.
“I was very impressed with the way they played and how they managed the game, it makes me trust them more. We were all disappointed at our last home match result against Abia Angels. Today, we did better and deserved to win.
“Nasarawa Amazons did very well they gave us a good fight, in fact they are a good side but today we are the better team and we are looking forward to our next match in Lokoja.”
The Lokoja based side will look to build on their winning form when they face off with FC Robo Queens next week.
