OFFICIAL: Bayelsa Queens strengthen attack with signing of Janet Akekoromowei

By Oluwadamilola Olaleye

Reigning Nigeria Women Premier League champions Bayelsa Queens have made a statement of intent by signing lethal forward Janet Akekoromowei from Nasarawa Amazons as they prepare for the upcoming WAFU B Women’s Championship in Côte d’Ivoire.

Akekoromowei, a proven goalscorer, joins the Queens ahead of the regional tournament where Bayelsa Queens aim to secure qualification for the CAF Women’s Champions League later this year.

“I’m excited to join Bayelsa Queens and can’t wait to give my best for this great club,” the forward said shortly after putting pen to paper.

Having played a key role in Nasarawa Amazons’ impressive run to the President Federation Cup finals and narrowly missing out on the NWFL title last season, Akekoromowei hopes to continue her goalscoring form in her new colors.

She is set to wear the number 9 jersey for Bayelsa Queens.

This signing boosts the Queens’ attacking options as they look to defend their league crown and make a strong impact on the continental stage.
