Rumour Mill: Liverpool’s mega salary offer could tempt Osimhen to Anfield

By Oluwadamilola Olaleye

Premier League champions Liverpool are reportedly preparing a lucrative salary package in a bold move to land Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen, as interest in the prolific forward intensifies across Europe.

The 26-year-old is understood to be prioritizing continuity in top-level European football, having already turned down lucrative offers from Saudi Arabia’s Al-Hilal and showing no interest in returning to Galatasaray, where he enjoyed a sensational loan spell last season.

According to Turkish outlet Fanatik, Liverpool are ready to offer Osimhen a salary package worth £15 million per year. With Arne Slot now at the helm, the Reds have emerged as frontrunners to secure the striker’s signature.

However, a significant obstacle remains: Napoli’s £80 million asking price. Osimhen’s previous £75 million release clause expired on July 1, giving the Italian club full control over transfer negotiations.

Osimhen’s stock has soared following his remarkable season at Galatasaray, where he netted 37 goals and provided 8 assists in all competitions, playing a central role in securing a domestic double.

His explosive form not only made him a cult hero in Istanbul but also reaffirmed his status as one of Europe’s deadliest forwards.

Liverpool are expected to open talks with Napoli, though it’s unlikely the Serie A side will lower their valuation.

Nevertheless, with the Reds showing serious intent and Osimhen keen on Champions League football, the situation remains one to closely monitor in the coming days.
