Nigeria midfielder Raheem Lawal remains undeterred despite Osmanlispor’s recent setback against Trabzonspor, expressing optimism that the team will rebound and retain their status in the Turkish Super League. Lawal, who recently made his ninth start of the league season, acknowledged the challenges faced in the 4-3 defeat to Trabzonspor but emphasized the importance of shifting focus to the upcoming Ankara derby clash against Gençlerbirliği.
In an interview with Turkish daily, Lawal, with almost five years of experience in Turkish football, emphasized the need to look ahead, stating, “I don’t think we should dwell much on the defeat to Trabzonspor match. The match has been played, and it was a difficult game. If we can get three to five wins on the trot, we will climb out of the relegation zone.”
Lawal recognizes the significance of the upcoming Ankara derby against Gençlerbirliği, noting the challenging position both teams share in the relegation zone. He remarked, “Both teams are on the same level in the relegation zone, so it makes the game more difficult.”
Confident in Osmanlispor’s capabilities, Lawal stressed the importance of hard work and dedication. Reflecting on recent performances against Fenerbahçe and Trabzonspor, he stated, “If we can show our dedication and performance in Fenerbahçe and Trabzonspor matches, we will get what we want. We have the qualities to get the team out of this precarious position.”
As Osmanlispor prepares for the crucial clash, Lawal’s positive outlook and commitment to overcoming challenges provide a rallying point for the team’s ambitions to secure their place in the Turkish Premier League.
