By Saheed Afolabi
Rasheedat Ajibade has described as a great feeling her brace in Atletico Madrid 2-1 victory over Real Sociedad on Saturday.
Ajibade has failed to score since October 2022 but her double brought an end to her five-month goal drought as her side claimed their third consecutive win to boost their Champions League spot dream.
Excited about regaining her scoring boots, the Super Falcons midfielder was full of appreciation to her teammates, while urging them to be more focused on the team’s biggest ambition this season.
“It was a good game, the most important thing was to win,” Ajibade wrote on social media.
“It’s great to get this run of three wins, but we have to aim for more. There are good feelings for the next game, but we have to keep focused, working hard on aspects that need to be improved.
“Thank God. I am very happy to be able to help the team, but I must say that without the help of my teammates, I could not have made it, it’s been a collective effort. Thank you, girls, for helping each other bring out the best in each other.”
The erstwhile Robo Queens player has now netted seven goals in 19 appearances for Atletico Madrid this season.
They will welcome local rivals Real Madrid to the 2000 capacity-seater Centro Deportivo Wanda stadium on the 11th of March in the Madrid derby.
