Rasheedat Ajibade wins 2025 Future Africa Award in Sports Category

Nigeria captain Rasheedat Ajibade has been named the winner of the 2025 Future Africa Awards (TFAA) in the Sports Category, recognizing her outstanding impact both on and off the pitch.

The 19th edition of the prestigious awards, themed “Threads of Legacy,” was held at the Landmark Event Centre, Lagos, celebrating young Africans shaping the continent’s future across governance, arts, sports, and entrepreneurship.

Ajibade, who captained Nigeria’s women’s national team to their 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) title earlier this year in Morocco, has enjoyed a stellar year in her career.

Before leading the Super Falcons to continental glory, the forward helped her former Spanish club Atlético Madrid Femenino qualify for the UEFA Women’s Champions League.

She later completed a high-profile move to Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) after the WAFCON triumph.

At the event, hosted by Nollywood actor Mike Afolarin and media personality Azeezah Hashim, Ajibade joined other honorees — including popular content creator Taooma — in receiving recognition for their contributions to African excellence.

The glamorous ceremony blended celebration with inspiration, spotlighting young Africans driving positive change and redefining the continent’s narrative through innovation, leadership, and impact.
