Remo Stars 2-0 Shooting Stars: Sky Blue Stars extend winning streak in Ikenne

Remo Stars maintained its perfect start to the 2022/2023 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) after a 2-0 win over Shooting Stars in Ikenne on Wednesday.
The Sky Blue Stars had won its first two league games against El-Kanemi Warriors (2-0) and Gombe United (1-0).
Shooting Stars, on their part, drew its first two games ahead of the South West Derby with a 3-3 draw against Plateau United and a goalless draw with Kwara United.
Seun Ogunribide had the first chance of the game in the sixth minute as he aimed from range for the host’s first shot on target.
Remo Stars goalkeeper, Bankole Kayode came off his line quickly to claim a through ball in the ninth minute to prevent the Ibadan-based side from taking the lead.
Successive missed chances from Olalekan Dayo and Samuel Anakwe ensured that the game remained goalless at halftime.
After the interval, Daniel Ogunmodede’s side struck first in the 60th minute as good teamwork inside the box resulted in Alex Aghahowa putting the ball into his net.
Ten minutes later, Godwin Odibo was put through on goal and slotted underneath the goalkeeper to double Remo Stars’ lead.
Remo Stars with a maximum of nine points after three games and a superior goal difference top Group A ahead of its next opponent, Bendel Insurance.
The Ikenne-Remo-based side will travel to Benin City, Edo State next Saturday to face Bendel Insurance in a top-of-the-table clash at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium.
