Victor Osimhen up for two Napoli awards

Nigeria striker Victor Osimhem stands a chance to bag two awards in Napoli’s End of the Year party after he has been nominated for best club goal and assist categories.

The 23-year-old prolific striker is one of the five nominees for the best Napoli goal of 2022, alongside Giovanni Simeone, Piotr Zielinski, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, and Eljif Elmas.

His stunning goal against Jose Mourinho’s AS Roma in October has been chosen among the 19 goals he netted across all competitions for the Serie A leader.

However, the Partenopei fans will have to decide whether his lone goal at the Stadio Olimpico where he finished a spectacular shot from a tight angle to beat Rui Patricio is better than Kvara’s curler against Monza, Simeone’s header against AC Milan, Zielinski’s finish at Empoli, and Elmas’s beauty against Udinese.

Also, Osimhen’s assist for Napoli’s winning goal in the 2-1 win over Atalanta in November has been selected alongside Frank Anguissa, Mario Rui, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, and Eljif Elmas, in the category for Napoli’s best assist of 2022.

Currently the top scorer in the Italian Serie A with nine goals, Osimhen could wrap up the calendar year with two honours to crown his efforts so far.
