By Monsurah Olatunji
Nigeria striker, Victor Osimhen, stole the spotlight once again with a remarkable performance as reigning Serie A champions Napoli secured a crucial victory against Monza.
Napoli returned from a 1-0 deficit early in the game to stage a remarkable comeback and secure a thrilling victory.
However, Osimhen emerged as Napoli’s saviour with a moment of brilliance that left spectators in awe.
The 25-year-old showcased his incredible athleticism by soaring to an astonishing height to meet a Frank Anguissa cross with a powerful header, levelling the score for Napoli.
His aerial prowess is no stranger to records. Last season, he made headlines by surpassing Cristiano Ronaldo’s jump record, reaching an astounding height of 2.58 meters to score a crucial goal against Spezia.
Super-sub Matteo Politano doubled Napoli’s lead before extending their lead through a thunderous strike from Piotr Zielinski that crashed into the net off the underside of the crossbar, leaving Monza’s goalkeeper with no chance.
However, Monza refused to concede defeat and mounted a spirited fightback of their own, with Andrea Colpani reducing the deficit with a well-placed finish that nestled into the top corner.
The Partenopei continued to press forward with renewed vigor to seal their victory with a decisive goal from substitute Giacomo Raspadori.
Meanwhile, the league’s official social media channels paid homage to the Nigerian star’s sensational header, celebrating his remarkable achievement and acknowledging his impact on the game.
