Nigeria champions, Bayelsa Queens Relocate to New, Improved Camp

By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership champions, Bayelsa Queens FC has officially moved into a new and improved camp facility, marking the end of a three-year stay at their former base. The relocation comes as part of the ongoing efforts by the Prosperity Government to improve the welfare and performance of its athletes.

The players, visibly elated by the upgrade, expressed their gratitude for the improved living conditions. The move is aimed at fostering a more conducive environment for the team as they prepare to represent Bayelsa State and Nigeria in the upcoming CAF WAFU-B tournament.

Speaking during an inspection of the new facility, the Honourable Commissioner for Sports Development, Dr. Baraladei Daniel Igali, emphasized the significance of providing athletes with the right atmosphere to thrive.

“Football is more than just a game; it is a universal language that inspires, unites, and drives people to achieve greatness — both on and off the pitch. Providing a conducive environment is key to unlocking the potential of our players,” Dr. Igali said.

He further stated that the new accommodation sets the standard for excellence and urged the team to match the improved conditions with greater commitment and performance.

“Success is no accident. It is hard work, perseverance, learning, studying, sacrifice, and most of all, love of what you’re doing or learning to do,” he added.

Chairman of Bayelsa Queens FC, Pastor Robin Angonimi Apreala, expressed deep appreciation to His Excellency, Governor Douye Diri, Deputy Governor Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, and Dr. Igali for their unwavering support and leadership.

“The ability of the State Government to listen, provide feedback, and advocate for our needs has been instrumental to our growth. This new camp is a testament to the Prosperity Government’s commitment to excellence,” Pastor Apreala stated.

He assured that the team is more motivated than ever to train hard, perform well, and bring laurels home for Bayelsa State.

“With this kind gesture, we must continue to work hard and deliver results. The Government’s mentorship has been invaluable, and we are determined not to disappoint.”

Bayelsa Queens FC now looks forward to a promising season, buoyed by renewed morale and improved infrastructure.
