By Wale Mustapha

Former Nigeria midfielder Ogenyi Onazi has expressed renewed confidence in the Super Eagles’ ability to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, following their dominant 2-0 victory over Rwanda on Friday.

The win, secured at the Amahoro Stadium, has reignited Nigeria’s hopes of booking a spot in next year’s tournament.

Onazi commended the players for their performance and stressed that maintaining this level of focus and determination is key to securing the World Cup ticket.

“I want to first say a big congratulations to the Super Eagles because they played a really decent game. This is the kind of attitude and concentration we need moving forward,” Onazi said.

He added, “I just want them to keep the same focus on the ultimate goal, which is the World Cup ticket.

“After this victory, my hopes are high that we can get it done for sure. I know all the boys don’t want to miss the World Cup, so the dream is coming alive.”

Coach Eric Chelle’s side will face Zimbabwe in their next qualifying match on Tuesday, as they look to build on their momentum and take another step closer to securing qualification.
