Bendel Insurance FC has pointed to injuries to key players as the reason behind their 3-1 defeat to Akwa United in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Matchday 25 clash.
The Benin Arsenal entered the match at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo without two influential players, Divine Nwachukwu and Sunday Anyanwu, who were sidelined due to injuries.
Both players have been pivotal to the club’s success in the league with their exceptional performances.
Following the match, Insurance took to their official social media handle to express their disappointment with the result, acknowledging the absence of Nwachukwu and Anyanwu and expressing hope for a swift recovery.
“Not the result we desired, but we will surely bounce back as we return home to prepare for Doma United,” the club wrote on X.
“We greatly missed the services of our defensive marshal Sunday Anyanwu and midfield superstar Divine. Adaaa… Bendel.”
With the defeat, Insurance FC has dropped to ninth place in the league standings, accumulating 34 points from 25 matches.
