Taiwo Awoniyi Scores As Nottingham Forest Thrash Tottenham

Nigeria striker Taiwo Awoniyi was on target while Ola Aina played the full 90 minutes as Nottingham Forest cruised to a 3-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur in Sunday’s Premier League clash.

Forest’s victory was sealed by goals from Igor Jesus, Morgan Gibbs-White and Awoniyi, as the visitors claimed a vital result in their battle to avoid relegation.

Awoniyi came off the bench in the second half and put the game beyond doubt in the 87th minute, applying the finishing touch to a searching cross from Neco Williams.

The Nigerian forward’s goal capped an impressive away performance from Forest.

Forest had taken the lead on the stroke of half-time through Igor Jesus, who headed home after Tottenham failed to deal with sustained pressure.

Morgan Gibbs-White then doubled the advantage in the 62nd minute, with Spurs goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario unable to keep out his effort.

Ola Aina also played a key role for Forest, delivering a solid display at the back as the visitors shut out Tottenham and frustrated the home side throughout the contest.

The result handed Forest their first Premier League win under Vitor Pereira and lifted them to 16th in the table, three points above the bottom three. Tottenham, meanwhile, remained winless in the league in 2026 and stayed just one point above the relegation zone after another disappointing home defeat.

Boos rang around the stadium at full-time as Spurs fans voiced their frustration after yet another abject display, while Forest celebrated a crucial victory that could prove significant in the survival race.
