EFL Cup: Ndidi, Iheanacho power Leicester to next round, Iwobi fall off with EvertonĀ

It ended in a bit of mixed fortunes for Nigerian players involving in the EFL Cup round of 16 in England on Tuesday.
One of the games that ended on a positive notes involved duo of Super Eagles players, Wilfred Ndidi and Kelechi Iheanacho as they helped Leicester to a commanding 3-0 win over Newport at the King Power Stadium.
Ndidi who was making his first start for the Foxes since returning from injury was solid in the midfield for over an hour moments he had while Iheanacho also had a cameo appearance.
It was Jamie Vardy who led the routing of the National League side with his second half brace and other goal coming from James Justin.
For Alex Iwobi and Everton, it was a horrible night for the Toffees as they embarrassingly lost 4-1 to Bournemouth.
Iwobi who has being in scintillating form for Everton recently could not offer much to help his side avoid a horrible night as goals from Jamal Lower, Junior Stanislas,Ā Emiliano Marcondes and Jaidon Anthony rendered Demarai Gray’s goal for Frank Lampard led side as mere consolation.
The Toffees will now focus on other domestic challenges as the journey to achieve anything special in the EFL Cup has been halted by Bournemouth.
