Nigeria to Host Three-Day WAFU-B Women’s Football Administrators Workshop in Abuja

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) will host a three-day Women’s Football Administrators workshop from this weekend in the Federal Capital, Abuja.

The event is organized by the West African Footbal Union Zone B (WAFU-B) zone in collaboration with the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

Scheduled to take place at the Exclusive Serene Hotel and Suites, Wuye, from April 26th to 28th, the workshop will bring together chairpersons of Women Football Commissions and heads of departments of women’s football from the seven WAFU-B countries: Nigeria, Côte d’Ivoire, Burkina Faso, Ghana, Niger, Togo, and Benin.

NFF President and WAFU-B President, Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau, is expected to officially open the workshop. He will be joined by WAFU-B Executive Director Philippe Tchere, CAF’s Head of Women Football Goshime Meskerem, WAFU-B Women Football Commission President Amina Amani, and WAFU-B Women Football Development Manager Precious Dede.

The workshop will feature facilitators including former Nigeria goalkeeper Precious Dede, CAF instructors Goshime Meskerem, Jules McGeever, and Thuba Sibanda.

Workshop Agenda

Day One: Presentations will cover topics such as the growth and evolution of women’s football in Africa, an overview of women’s football globally, regional challenges and achievements, and leadership scenarios.

Day Two: Sessions will focus on strategic planning for women’s football development, building successful clubs with case studies from Mamelodi Sundowns and ASEC Mimosas, the MA women’s football brand, and development frameworks.

Day Three: Discussions will center on strategic planning, setting objectives, framing findings, and translating plans into actionable initiatives.

The workshop aims to enhance collaboration, share best practices, and advance the development of women’s football across the WAFU-B region.
