Nigeria observe first training in Cairo ahead of U20 Africa Cup of Nations opener

Nigeria National U-20 team, on Friday morning observed its first training session in Cairo in build up for the 2023 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations (AFCON) campaign.
The session took place at the Jewel Sports City & Aqua Resorts training pitch, just couple hours after Ladan Bosso’s team arrived Cairo on Thursday night ahead of the opening match against Senegal.
21 players and officials arrived Cairo International Airport on Thursday after over five hour’s journey and were immediately moved to their official resident at Jewel Sports City & Aqua Resort.
The Flying Eagles will take on the young Teranga Lions in their opening match at the Cairo International Stadium on Sunday.
The Flying Eagles, two-time FIFA World Cup runners-up, and one-time bronze medallists, will then face hosts Egypt on Wednesday, 22nd February, and Mozambique on Saturday, 25th February.
Meanwhile, host, Egypt, and Mozambique will slug it out in the opening game of the tournament.
The 2023 U-20 AFCON will take place from February 19 to March 11, with all four semi-finalists at the 12-team championship in Egypt will qualify to fly Africa’s flag at the FIFA U20 World Cup finals in Indonesia later this year.
