Erasmus Onuh plays down NPFL Super Six quest despite Abia Warriors win at Rangers
By Wale Mustapha
Technical Adviser of Abia Warriors, Erasmus Onuh has described as fantastic his team’s hard fought 2-1 win over Enugu Rangers in a Nigeria Premier Football League encounter on Wednesday.
The Umuahia based club had to wait till stoppage time before scoring the winning courtesy of debutant forward Uche Moses with a sublime finish after substitute Uche John cancelled out Jimoh Gbadamosi’s ninth minute opener.
Following the triumph, the former Niger Tornadoes and Heartland gaffer lauded his boys for the spirited display, while stressing that the win was a reflection of team’s patience and determination to turn their season around.
“It was a fantastic win for us and we truly deserve it because we worked for us, they (Rangers) came with a plan that almost almost worked for them buy our determination and patience with our plans helped us,” Onuh told media.
“Nothing like a talk of Super Six for now, I don’t even want to talk about it, what we are focusing on is our next game and how we will strategize to win it, and same goes for remaining fixtures till end of the season.
“I’m confident the team will still do better than what we are doing because I know the quality of these boys and what they can do but we will be taking it easy with ourselves till end of the season,” he said.
Abia Warriors go third with 18 points from 11 games and they will take on Bayelsa United in Yenagoa on Sunday.
