FC Robo Queens Seal Super Six Spot with Derby Victory

FC Robo Queens have become the first team from Group B to qualify for the 2025/26 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership Super Six after a hard-fought Matchday 16 victory.
The Lagos-based side edged Remo Stars Ladies 1-0 in a tightly contested South West derby on Wednesday. Tosin Rafiu’s decisive strike just before halftime proved enough to seal the win and confirm their return to the season-ending playoffs for the first time since 2023 under coach Emmanuel Osahon.
With the result, FC Robo Queens join Bayelsa Queens, Rivers Angels, and Edo Queens as confirmed contenders for the Super Six showdown.
Elsewhere, Ahudiyannem Queens claimed a 2-0 victory over Dannaz Ladies in Aba, courtesy of goals from Mary Lucky and Tobi Ogheneugba in either half.
Nasarawa Amazons delivered one of the standout performances of the round, thrashing Confluence Queens 4-0 in Lafia. Ayatsea Hembafan netted a first-half brace, while Omotoke Ogunfuwa and Osinachi Ugbala added further goals to complete the dominant display.
In Owerri, Heartland Queens secured a 2-1 win against Rivers Angels. Goals from Monica Matthew and Oluebube Umejiaku gave the hosts a comfortable lead before Grace Saliu pulled one back, but it wasn’t enough to spark a comeback.
Defending champions Bayelsa Queens continued their strong form with a 2-0 win in Yenagoa, thanks to strikes from Sofiat Bankole and Delight Isaac.
Pacesetter Queens and Edo Queens played out a goalless draw in Ibadan, while Ekiti Queens maintained their impressive run with a 2-0 victory over Ibom Angels. Odun Olaleye and Joke Adeyemo were on target for the hosts.
Sunshine Queens also impressed in Akure, cruising to a 3-0 win over Osun Babes. Moyinoluwa Owolabi, Toyin Oyewale, and Bunmi Adenuga all found the net.
Meanwhile, Abia Angels rounded off the action with a 2-0 triumph in Aba, with goals from Funmilayo Adefuye and Miracle Usani.
Matchday 16 delivered a mix of decisive wins and tightly contested fixtures, as the race for Super Six spots continues to intensify.
