Anam Imo’s brace of assists and goal inspires Pitea winning ways return against Vaxjo

Pitea returned to winning ways with a 5-2 win over Vaxjo DFF with Nigerian forward, Anam Imo bagging two assists and a goal in the Swedish Damallsvenskan encounter on Sunday.
After their 4-2 loss to Kristianstad in the Swedish Dammalsvenskan the last time out, the 2018 champions needed a strong performance to bounce back from the loss and the Nigerian was instrumental.
Cecilia Edlund scored the opening goal of the game in the 19th minute and Imo set up Edlund for the second goal four minutes later for a two-goal cushion at half time.
After the restart, the former Rosengard player once again assisted Fanny Anderson for the third goal of the game in the 56th minute.
Two minutes later, the visitors reduced the deficit thanks to a goal from Hanna Stokki and hopes for a possible comeback was building up when Juliette Kempi made it 3-2 in the 66th minute.
However, Imo’s 14th league goal of the season in the 68th minute ended any chance of a comeback before Tuva Skoog’s strike four minutes later completed the rout for the ruthless hosts.
Imo who scored her 14th goal of the campaign and remained the leading goal scorer in the league with six assists ahead of Linkoping Cornelia Kapocs played the duration of the match.
Her compatriot, Faith Michael also played full 90 minutes for Pitea.
Pitea maintained their fourth position on the table with 43 points after 20 games, a place, and two points behind third-placed Linkoping FC which occupy the final UEFA Women’s Champions League (UWCL) spot.
Up next for Pitea is a trip to the Behr Arena to face Orebro on October 1, 2023.
