CAF suspends CHAN 2024 qualifiers

The Confederation of Africa Football have placed the qualifiers for the 2024 African Nations Championship, CHAN on hold, Nigeriafootball.ng reports.

The apex football ruling body in Africa’s announcement on Friday by the body citing its inability to decide the hosts for the tournament as major reason for the postponement.

Algeria hosted the last edition of the competition with the Teranga Lions of Senegal emerging the first time winners.

CAF noted the qualifying format for the tournament proper will be impossible to be decided as it will depend on the eventual host that will then see others countries competing for the available slots.

 It stated that a new dates will be announced as soon as the host country is yet to be confirmed. The months of September, October, December 2023 and March 2024 were initially selected for the qualifying matches.
