As the 2023/24 season of the French women’s football league, D1 Arkema, approaches its thrilling conclusion, the league has unveiled its Team of the Season (TOTS), featuring none other than Chiamaka Nnadozie guarding the goalposts.

Since her move from the Nigeria Women’s Football League in 2020, the 23-year-old goalkeeper has solidified her position as one of Europe’s premier shot-stoppers.

Renowned for her prowess in saving penalties, Nnadozie leads the pack with the highest number of penalty saves among elite goalkeepers in both men’s and women’s top leagues during the 2023/24 season.

Her remarkable performances include seven crucial saves from the spot, two in domestic league fixtures and an impressive five during her club’s remarkable journey in the UEFA Women’s Champions League.

Nnadozie’s heroics were on display at the recent FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia, where she notably denied Christine Sinclair’s penalty kick, further cementing her reputation as a formidable presence between the goalposts.

Joining Nnadozie in the league’s prestigious Team of the Season are standout players such as Tabitha Chawinga, currently on loan at PSG from Chinese side Wuhan Jianghan University, as well as Elisa De Almeida, Ellie Carpenter, Sakina Karchaoui, Griedge Mbock Bathy, Damaris Egurrola, Ines Benyahia, Eugenie Le Sommer, Grace Geyoro, and Lindsey Horan.

Nnadozie’s inclusion in the TOTS serves as a testament to her exceptional talent and contributions to her team’s success throughout the season, solidifying her status as a true star of the women’s game.
